These outreach training programs assist employers in their efforts to conduct internal training on OSHA regulations. In addition, the training helps in utilizing the standards and regulations to supplement an on-going safety and health program. By preparing in-house resources to identify common violations while describing appropriate abatement procedures for selected safety hazards, the employer develops a safer environment and workforce. The OSHA Training Institute trains trainers as a part of the General Industry Outreach 10 hour or 30 hour Training Course in a lengthy training program at various locations throughout the United States. Once completed, the Authorized Instructors are qualified to provide specific training courses for which the agency will issue the trainee, certification of completion documents. Such recognition motivates workers and their supervisors to monitor workplaces for hazards and worker behaviors that could lead to injuries and/or illnesses. Employers have the option of conducting either a 10-hour or 30-hour safety training course for which, if provided by an OSHA Authorized Trainer, the employee receives recognition directly from the agency which includes a laminated card from OSHA and a letter of documentation. OEHC now has Authorized Instructors and can provide both the 30 hour and 10 hour courses either on-site on at our centralized training facilities, The Mid South Safety & Environmental Training Institute.
